This week was marked by the stepping down of Mauritian President Kailash Purryag and the ascension of world-renowned biologist Mrs Ameenah Gurib-Fakim as the first woman to occupy the post of President in Mauritius.
Undoubtedly, such news will be reported elsewhere, I mean around the world. However, I could not stop giggle when I saw Yahoo News reporting the same with a photo of the former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr. Navin Chandra Ramgoolam with the caption “President of Mauritius Kailash Purryag arrives at the White House on August 5, 2014 in Washington”.
It seems that the first mistake happened by gettyimages.com for putting the wrong caption stating President of Mauritius Kailash Purryag instead of Prime Minister of Mauritius Navin C. Ramgoolam. Yahoo News editor used the photo & caption without verification.
On 5 August 2014 it was the former Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navin C. Ramgoolam that visited the White House and not the President Kailash Purryag.
Update #1
Thank you S. Moonesamy for reporting two more incorrectly tagged photos.
1. Paul Raymond Berenger mentioned as the President of Mauritius
2. Navin Ram Ghulam mentioned as President of Mauritius
